Our Condolences

To all our wonderful ORC Family and Friends:

It is with mixed feelings that we tell you that we have lost three of our “warriors” in the recent weeks. We all know that the Christian life is a battle and a march, and each day we renew our decision to follow the Lord where He leads us. And then on to victory, if we continue to follow Him. So, it is with both sadness and joy that we announce the “loss” of three of our ORC Family members. We are obviously sad because we loved these people very much and they have been such a blessing to Open Road Chapels over the years. However, we are also joyful because we have the hope that the next thing that each of them will see will be the face of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As the Word says,

“13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Dr. Don Reimer
Our wonderful friend and dependable ministry partner, Dr. Don Reimer, will be greatly missed. Dr. Don was the founder of Reimer Express Lines Ltd. and Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Reimer World Corp. He was a lover of God’s word and devoted his life to following Christ, as well as supporting many organizations that share the Gospel with the world. He definitely blessed our ministry in multiple ways and we will miss him very much.

John Phinnemore
John will be deeply missed by Open Road Chapels. He was one of our founding Board members, back in 1992, and he served many, many years. He was not only a Board member, but a friend and brother in the Lord. Open Road Chapels has been through many ups and downs, over the years, and John was there for most of them. We will miss his great humour and kindness, as well as his friendship and involvement with ORC. ’Til we meet again, our brother.

Maxine Lantz
We often hear about how there is always a great woman behind the great men in the world. Well, Maxine was definitely one of those women. Her beloved husband, Jim, has been a faithful Lead Chaplain with Open Road Chapels for a very long time. And Maxine was a true partner in the ministry. She gave much of her time and talents to work alongside of Jim, serving the men and women in the trucking industry, through the chapel at Lancaster, Ontario. Maxine’s presence will truly be missed in Lancaster, as well as a member of the Open Road Chapels’ family.

We want to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the spouses, families and friends of our dear Open Road Chapels’ family members that have lost their loved ones. We will be thinking of you and praying for you. May you find peace and assurance through the love and compassion of the Lord. And remember that the most wonderful gift you could ever give to each one of them, Dr. Don, John, and Maxine, would be to meet them in Heaven. God bless!
